A palavra divina: a centralidade do oráculo de Delfos na religião da Grécia Antiga

Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to demonstrate the central role of the Delphic oracle in Religion of Ancient Greece. The sanctuary in the city of Delphi was one of the most important religious centers of Greek culture, exerting influence on the most diverse aspects of society, such as: religion, arts, colonization, politics and war. In order to analyze the oracular influence, we collected various accounts and records about the oracle in the ancient world and established connections with Apollo, who was the God responsible for prophecy. We used the method of bibliographical analysis, with records of authors from classical antiquity to understand the functioning of the sanctuary and to analyze the oracular responses given to the inquirers.
