Abstract

The general objective of this work is to determine the challenges that women accountants in Governador Valadares face or have faced to enter the accounting job market and the number of accounting professionals in Minas Gerais. The methodological procedures used were the collection of primary and secondary data, and the application of a questionnaire to the accountants of Governador Valadares. The research classifies as qualitative, descriptive with interpretive analysis. For the theoretical foundation, books on Accounting Theory and History, scientific articles with information focused on the performance of professional women in the area of accounting, articles from the annals of accounting conferences that inserted the theme of gender and diversity in their events were used. the quantity of articles published in the databases of Scielo, Capes journal and Spell was analyzed using as a parameter the keywords of the present work Accounting, gender, woman, labor Market.
