This study evaluated the rhythm strategy used by male boxing athletes, comparing the time spent in the combat phases per round and in the competition phases. To this end, 143 rounds of the pre-Olympic European championship held in 2020 in London were analyzed. The main results in relation to the rounds indicated that there was a difference between the actions in seconds, of Displacement between the 1st round (1R) (119±20, 6;85; 160) and 3rd round (3R) (105.8±18; 69; 143; [p=0.003]), Clinch between 1R (13.5 ±12.8; 0; 51) and 3R (22±16.2; 0; 67; [p=0.015]), as for the pause action, there was a difference between the 1R (11.1±9.4; 0; 34) and 3R (22.1±14.5; 0; 54; [p ˂0.001]) and 2nd round (2R) (15.5±11.1; 0; 44) and 3R (22.1±14.5; 0; 54; [p=0.04]), there were also difference between the total time without pause in the 1R (167.8±12; 130; 182) and the 3R (157.8±15.6; 116; 181; [p=0.002]) and between the 2R (167.6±11.0; 137; 181) and 3R (157.8±15.6; 116; 181; [p=0.044]). Among the comparisons between the stages of the competition, there was a difference between the attack actions, where differences were observed between the semifinal (20±4.9; 11; 33) and final (28.8±14.4; 3; 62; [p=0.003]), between semifinals (20±4.9; 11; 33) and quarterfinals (24.6±7.1; 10; 41; [p˂0.001]), for Defense there was a difference between the semifinal (8.15±4.6; 2; 23) and final (11.15±7.8; 1; 32: [p=0.048]) phases. Together, the results screamed alternation in the time spent in attacking actions during the competition, being greater in the final, which may demonstrate an attempt by the athletes to be more selected or knocked out in the final of the competition. The dynamics of the fights tend to drop over the course of the rounds, with actions at greater intensity that can decide who advances in the competition.pt_BR
