Corpo-árvore de um anfitrião-casa: a camuflagem na paisagem e rituais de eco-hospitalidade dos Ents em O Senhor dos Anéis

Abstract

The present study aims to understand and analyze how the eco-hospitality ritual portrayed in chapter 4, Barbárvore, from book III of the Lord of the Rings saga, The Two Towers, occurs. In the chapter, the moment of welcome is performed by a tree-being, causing strangeness and distinctions in the relatively fixed order of the hospitality ritual. The work is divided into three chapters, the first about theories and concepts important for understanding the study, the second being an analysis of the arboreal body of the host, and the third being an essay on how the ritual of hospitality occurs in the cut chapter. As a result, the work generates a literary critique, aiming to work on the interdisciplinarity between literature, tourism, hospitality, and geography, in addition to understanding how the host experiences hospitality and how it can transform their views, opinions, and perspectives. Moreover, with regard to tourism, it is understood that fantasy literature can be a device to encourage the study of tourism and the practice of the activity.
