Estudo de caso sobre o processo de implementação e progresso da educação financeira em escolas do município de Engenheiro Caldas.

Abstract

In Brazil, financial education has been gaining ground over the years, mainly since decree N°7,397, which formally established the National Financial Education Strategy. Since then, new projects and laws have emerged that aim to disseminate financial education in primary and secondary schools, however, it was only after the determinations of the National Common Curricular Base that the topic became mandatory in the country's pedagogical curriculum. In this context, the objective of this work is to verify how the process of implementation and progress of financial education occurs in a school. This research is exploratory in nature, uses a qualitative approach, and adopts the case study method. To collect data, an open questionnaire was used for teachers and principal and a mixed questionnaire for students. The results obtained show that the inclusion of financial education in learning institutions is a recent practice, however, the school is the second main source of information that students have access to on financial issues and most students receive this information from their friends and family. It was also noted that students are aware of the importance of financial education and engaged in learning the content taught at school on the subject. In both developed institutions, teachers receive training and qualifications to address financial education in the classroom. The biggest challenge identified by teachers is the lack of openness to modifying content.
