Reanatomização de dentes anteriores e fechamento de diastemas por meio de resina composta: revisão bibliográfica

Abstract

Diastema refers to the space, gap, or absence of contact between two or more contiguous teeth, commonly observed in the anterior-superior region, resulting in aesthetic and functional compromise. The closure of these diastema with composite resin stands out as a minimally invasive and conservative, providing an immediately favorable aesthetic outcome with the ability to accurately replicate dental characteristics. This study aimed to performe a bibliograph review on dental recontouring and diastema closure using composite resin, considering etiology, main form of treatments, direct composite veneer techniques, and the presentation of clinical cases. Searches were performed on PubMed, Scielo, and Google Scholar databases. After selecting publications based on their relevance to the study's theme, 46 scientific articles were included in this review. Consequently, it is evident that diastema correction through composite resin restorations offers benefits such as aesthetics, adhesion and preservation of dental structure when compared to alternative rehabilitation approaches. Thus, diastema closure and anterior tooth recontouring using direct composite resins can ensure satisfactory aesthetic and functional outcomes for the patient, representing a secure, conservative, and effective choice to ensure a harmonious smile aesthetic.
