A eutanásia no Brasil: uma análise sob o ponto de vista jurídico e bioético

Abstract

Euthanasia is a controversial topic, which often involves a context of physical suffering or terminal illness, being a topic of enormous discussion, both in the legal and bioethical contexts. The present work sought to address the issues of euthanasia from both perspectives, investigating the legal and ethical aspects that involve the practice of euthanasia in Brazil. Despite being the only certainty in life, death is a difficult and delicate subject to discuss, as it is known that since the Middle Ages, it began to take a path surrounded by values and beliefs, which perpetuate even the current days. In this work, the methodological approach used consisted of carrying out a narrative review of the literature. In this process, articles previously published in academic journals were analyzed, as well as theses, dissertations and literary works related to the field of law and bioethics. This academic work aims to explore the complexities of euthanasia in Brazil, examining emblematic cases, legislative conflicts, ethical-social arguments and the implications for medical practice and respect for the patient's will, and also compare the view of euthanasia in other countries . Therefore, the monograph presented seeks to contribute to a more complete and informative understanding of euthanasia, a topic of extreme sensitivity in the cultural and legal sphere.
