O tempo e a imagem à luz do barroco: um estudo do instante pregnante nas obras Un bar aux Folies-Bergère e os retratos das anunciações

Abstract

This paper seeks to establish a dialogue between the work of Édouard Manet, specifically “Un bar aux Folies-Bergère” and the representation of the Annunciation - a biblical scene referring to the Angel Gabriel's announcement to the Virgin Mary - in particular in the portraits of the Baroque period, as the greatest examples of an aesthetic-narrative structure in the history of art. This study proposes a focus on the intersection between modernity and tradition that surrounds the elaboration of the gaze and the aesthetic experience. To this end, it incorporates the notion of the pregnant instant as its embroidery point, exploring how the representation of fruitful moments exaggerates the symbolic and structural relationships of the images analysed.
