A pastoral da juventude da arquidiocese de Mariana/ MG e seu processo de formação política

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the Socio-Political Dimension is addressed in the Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Mariana – MG. It was guided by the following question: what are the main challenges faced by the Youth Ministry in the context of the strengthening of the extreme right, both globally and in Brazil, and of charismatic and conservative currents within the Catholic Church, as well as what kind of reactions and consequences this movement has brought about for the Youth Ministry. Our main hypothesis is that the Youth Ministry absorbs elements from other expressions that work on youth evangelization in an attempt to maintain its good relationship with the hierarchy. We will conduct qualitative research based on the analysis of training materials from the Youth Ministry and on the conduct of semi-structured interviews with those who participated in the Youth Ministry of the Archdiocese of Mariana. This work is important because it helps to understand how the training received by young people in the Youth Ministry reflects on their social and political actions.
