Plano Aberto: documentário sobre o olhar, a infância e o território

Abstract

This work consists of the descriptive memorial of the documentary Plano Aberto, developed as a final undergraduate project in Radio, TV and Internet at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The project is based on a photography workshop carried out with children enrolled at Instituto Amargen, located in the Dom Bosco neighborhood in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, held in weekly meetings over five weeks. It investigates the possibilities of the image as a tool for listening, expression, and children’s protagonism. Based on the action-research methodology (Thiollent, 2011), the process was structured through theoretical and practical meetings that addressed themes such as portrait, movement, and territory, culminating in the production of images created by the children themselves. The documentary emerges as an extension of this path, prioritizing an aesthetic and narrative approach guided by encounter, affection, and the active participation of the filmmakers in the field. As outcomes, the project revealed the strengthening of the children’s autonomy and confidence in using the camera, the expansion of their perspectives about themselves and their territory, and the reframing of photography as a form of expression and belonging. The memorial presents the stages of conception, development, and critical reflection of the project, engaging in dialogue with authors such as Alain Bergala and Paulo Freire, and discussing issues related to the representation of childhood, image production, and educational processes in audiovisual practices.
