Religião entre grades: a assistência religiosa católica e os presidiários

Abstract

This paper has the objective of to do an analysis of the catholic aid in the prison environment. To this was carried out a case study and a bibliographical study. The case study was constituted in an accompaniment of the work had carried out by the pastoral nucleus of the city of Barbacena in its Prison Regional. And the bibliographical study about concepts and official documents of the Prison ‘s Pastoral and about ethnographies related to the subject. How there is a huge discrepancy of studies about the action of the pastoral catholic centers of the prison, since the majority of the analyzed ethnographies approach the evangelical religious setting in the prison environment. In this way, was done a short parallel between the resemblances and the main differences regarding to the catholic aid and to the evangelical aid in the prisons. The work also have had an analysis about the values and the main objectives of the Prison’s Pastoral and how those values and objectives reflect, or more precisely, do not reflect in the pastoral centers studied.
