Conservadorismo e Serviço Social: sistematizações analíticas da influência do pensamento pós-moderno na formação profissional

Abstract

This final course project seeks to understand how neoconservatism and the premises of postmodernity influence education in social work. To this end, a bibliographic review was conducted using the historical-dialectical materialist method in order to delve deeper into the subject matter for this analysis. This work is organised into three chapters. In the first, we will discuss conservatism, its classical expressions, the structural crisis of 1970, which eventually resulted in the transition to neoconservatism, the characteristics of the latter and, finally, the theoretical and political premises of postmodernity. The second chapter deals with the relationship between conservatism and social work, first understanding how its influences were expressed in the genesis of the profession, then discussing the process of renewal of Brazilian social work, where the profession seeks to break with this conservatism, to arrive at how postmodern thinking manifests itself in the profession and, finally, neoconservatism in professional education. The last chapter seeks to present the main analysis of this work, addressing the impacts that neoconservatism and postmodernity have on professional education. Based on the analyses, we found that the influence of neoconservatism on education has a significant weight and manifests itself expressively in the theoretical productions of the profession.
