Como nascem as putas: disputas políticas que circunscrevem a prostituição nos debates dos movimentos feministas

Abstract

The present monograph seeks to analyze the different understandings that surround prostitution within feminist debates, recognizing that, among the various strands of feminism, there is a dispute that is divided primarily between a position favorable to prostitution and a position opposed to prostitution. The research is inspired by the Marxian method, particularly with regard to the constant movement of approximation to and distancing from the object of study. Therefore, it starts from a Marxist theoretical framework in order to reach references that go beyond it, also grounded in critical theories. Through a literature review and the analysis of blogs written by abolitionist feminists, the study investigates the reproduction of moralizing understandings of prostitution, which reinforce conservative/patriarchal notions. Based on this analysis, it is concluded that putaphobic feminisms contribute to the stigmatization and marginalization of women in prostitution, preventing them from accessing feminist spaces of debate and disregarding not only their lived experiences but also their contributions to the theoretical and academic field.
