A relação natureza e capital no contexto contemporâneo de crise estrutural do capitalismo

Abstract

This paper aims to critically examine Capital-Nature relations in the current phase of capitalism’s structural crisis and their main implications for the deepening environmental crisis, competing solutions proposed, technological developments, and the financialization of land. The study engages with contemporary concerns about an impending environmental collapse, considering the proliferation of environmental disasters and crimes, rising global temperatures, and the ways in which these challenges are experienced and addressed in practice. The central hypothesis is that Capital, under its present conditions of structural crisis, is incapable of effectively responding to or overcoming the environmental problematic. Instead, the persistence of this mode of production and social reproduction contributes to the deepening of the metabolic rift between society and nature. The research adopts an exploratory approach, grounded in a bibliographic review aligned with the Marxist tradition and supported by documentary analysis of news coverage, academic articles, reports, and related materials addressing the topic.
