Práticas discursivo-interacionais de “não-resposta”: evadir-se ou não da pergunta em contextos institucionais

Abstract

This work investigates the answers produced in the political interview contexts (an interview with The Minister of Education Paulo Renato on the program Roda Viva) and in two conciliation hearings at PROCON. Our object of study is the “non-answers”, especially, the evasive answers. We observed that, in these contexts, the respondents frequently built “unsatisfactory” answers if we consider the assertions/pressupositions of the questions performed. Thus, we tried to check: what is the relation between the nature of these questions in these contexts and the type of answers built; how the institutional context influenced the production of “non-answers”; what are the professional/ personal reasons which could contribute to the production of “non-answers”. We adopt the qualitative and interpretative approach of researching for the production and analysis of the data, which are coherent to the theoretic-methodological perspectives of an Interactional approach in Linguistics. The results of this study shows that discursive practices of “non-answers” must be analyzed in a situated way, in a located form, or sequentially, not ignoring, however, that the use can be determined by contingences of macro-contextual nature. The speech activities studied here - political interview and conciliation hearings - have a relevant role in the strategic and rhetoric use of over or covert evasive answers in order to attend the participants‟ communicative goals which are generally conflicting.
