O amor é uma viagem: a teoria cognitivista da metáfora e o discurso amoroso no cancioneiro popular brasileiro

Abstract

This study states and debates the cognitivist theory of conceptual metaphors, included its latest version – The Neural Theory of Metaphors. The present research accepts some of the criticisms directed to the theory of conceptual metaphor by showing that the distribution of the metaphors for Love, in the corpus under consideration, is sensitive to the kind of discourse that uses them; furthermore, the lexicalization of the metaphors is also sensitive to cultural factors, contextually relevant.
