Interação dos jovens a partir das mídias digitais: implicações no cotidiano escolar

Abstract

This work is the product of a research which has as investigative question: “What is the communicational environment of the teenagers and the interests that motivates them, considering students of the 7th grade of a state public school in Juiz de Fora?” The aim is to analyze how occurs the interaction of young people in digital spaces, reflecting on situations where these interactions end up interfering in everyday school routine. Through focus group and records of everyday situations was sought to understand how occurs the interactions and the experiences among students at school, mediated by tablets, computers and mobile phones. The Interactivity that is present in youth culture has many forms of expression through the mobile communication, and it invite us to reflect about the relationships and social practices. Among teenagers, there is a constant need of making themselves virtually present, having a huge number of virtual friends, who simultaneously communicate through Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram. Data analysis is organized into two categories: (1) friendship relations established by the interaction over social networks and (2) the public and private use of personal images on social networks. This research allowed an approach with the teenagers students and it brought important findings: among the younger, the interactions are implicated by the relations established on the digital context. For teenagers, be popular in your contact group is an important matter and the number of “likes” is constituted as a social status. The personal exhibition is important to get likes, and them may compete for number of likes and online friends. Online publications affect the school routine, but this issues are dealt with disciplinary and punitive sanctions. Underwear photos that girls send to boys, photos of the genitals, almost naked photos, sent by Facebook inbox or WhatsApp, are a common procedure among teenagers. Further, it was possible to identify situations on school routine, which the teenagers use these images as revenge for the end of a relationship, or to expose the partner to the school friends through social networks. This research does not intend to point ways, just intends to make the facts visible and think about the events involving young people with whom we work, to reflect on the school routine, rethink it- intending to understand the reality of the students, their actions and meanings constructed in the spaces that they inhabitt - and transform it. After all, who is my student today? How can I (inter) act with them?
