Desigualdade de oportunidades no Brasil: fatores associados ao desempenho

Abstract

This work was designed with the objective of identifying success cases and factors that are related to the production, reproduction and educational inequality of opportunities mitigation. In order to do this, it has investigated schools that, in spite of assisting students in social fragile situations, they present good performance, seeking to know elements which could collaborate in reaching success, such as social cohesion, leadership, “peer effect”, among others. Upon bibliographical survey and preliminary selection of cases, it has proceeded into field phase with research in three schools in Minas Gerais and two in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Interviews with several school social actors were carried out: directors, teachers, students and employees. It can be concluded that some factors can be effectively contributory results as the appropriation of the results, the non-segregation, the cohesion around educational objectives and the institucional identity. The peer effect has been shown more evident in some schools than in others, even being present in all of them. The analysis of leadership could not assert categorically that it is able to be decisive in educational achievements of all surveyed schools.
